Welcome

Ok so so many people want to see pictures and videos of the kids and also want to know how they are doing so I am starting a blog. Maybe this will be more productive then playing FarmVille all day (by the way if anyone wants to be a neighbor just facebook me :-D )

I'm going to try and write/post often but you know how it goes, good intentions and all.

For those who dont know I'm going to give a very brief overview: My twins Gavriel Simcha Gedalia and Baila Nechama were born very premature at 24weeks which is pretty much as younge as they come (a few kids survive at 22 and 23 weeks) We were on vacation in Virginia visiting my grandmother when they were born. We were in the NICU for about 4 months. Thank G-d not many complications but there were a few. It was a very scary period of time, Avi and I agreed not to share certain aspects of it so I apoligize but there are some things no one needs to know. However the kids were both on Osilators, ventilators, cpap, canula. both had PDA ligation at 3days old. PDA ligation is a heart surgery: from http://www.umm.edu/ency/article/002948.htm
"Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) ligation

* Before birth, there is a natural blood vessel between the aorta (the main artery to the body) and the pulmonary artery (the main artery to the lungs) called the ductus arteriosus. This opening usually closes shortly after birth. A PDA occurs when this opening fails to close.
Another method is to make a small cut, or incision, on the left side of the chest. The surgeon reaches in and ties off the ductus arteriosus, or divides and cuts it. Tying off the ductus arteriosus is called ligation."

We had feeding issues, breathing issues all the "normal" preemie stuff.

I'd like to take a second and thank some people who saved my kids lives, All the Dr's and NICU nurses THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant even express my gratitude enough! a special thanks also to the wonderful secretaries every time I came in and out they were good for a smile, a joke a hug you all became such good friends I miss you so much! Also thanks to the wonderful community in VA who supported us while we were there and our AMAZING, STUPENDOUS, INCREDIBLE, community of Pittsburgh that supported us from GO and continues to do so daily!!!! I'm so blessed to live here!

Now the kids are 7 months old their "corrected age", how old they would be had they been born on time is 3months.

We have Developmental Therapist, Physical therapist and occupational therapist coming to our house each week. They are wonderful and the kids are B'h thriving.
